[FB-LG] Call for Papers BIOSIG 2008

Vielen Dank! Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Arslan Brömme, Christoph Busch und Detlef Hühnlein ============================================================== Call for Papers -------------------------------------------------------------- BIOSIG 2008 -------------------------------------------------------------- Biometric Border Control & Federated Identity Management 11.-12. September 2008, Darmstadt Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI) -------------------------------------------------------------- www.cast-forum.de - www.biosig.org -------------------------------------------------------------- in Cooperation with German Federal Office for Information Security (www.bsi.bund.de) and the 3D-Face Consortium (www.3dface.org) ============================================================== Biometric Border Control: ------------------------- Multibiometric reference data in sufficient quality is used within Europe and beyond to verify the identity of persons at borders against the claimed identity within biometric (travel) documents and/or identifying criminals in certain real life scenarios. Different application scenarios demand for high reliability of verification and identification. Thus multimodal high speed biometric systems are needed. Within the BIOISG 2008 workshop the impacts and possible scenarios for border control is addressed to identify current possibilities, drawbacks, and future development of biometric systems in border control processes. In this con-text the state-of-the-art research in 2D and 3D face recognition approaches is discussed. Federated Identity Management: ------------------------------ While electronic identity theft becomes an increasingly pressing problem, which according to the Identity Theft Resource Center causes an annual damage up to $55 Bil-lion for businesses and consumers, there are many national and domain specific approaches for more secure identification and authentication using electronic identity cards for example. These approaches however do not yet seem to be applicable in cross domain business processes and hence may fail to solve the electronic identity theft problem in a global perspective. Therefore BIOSIG 2008 discusses methods and systems for secure identity management with a special emphasis on aspects arising in cross domain scenarios. BIOSIG 2008 on September 11/12 is jointly organized by CAST, the German Federal Office for Information Security, the expert group BIOSIG of the Gesellschaft für Informatik, and the 3DFace research consortium. We invite stakeholder and technical experts from public administration, industry, science and academia to propose contributions to the program of the workshop. Submissions should be extended abstracts (3-4 pages) or full papers (max. 12 pages) in English. Submitted abstracts and papers will be reviewed by the program committee. Accepted papers will be presented at the workshop and published within the conference proceedings. The paper template is available at: http://www.gi-ev.de/service/publikationen/lni/ ============================================================== Important Dates -------------------------------------------------------------- 15.05.2008 Deadline for electronic submissions (via e-mail to: biosig2008@biosig.org) 15.06.2008 Notification of authors via e-mail 15.07.2008 Deadline for final papers (ready for press) 11.09.2008 Presentations on Biometrics 12.09.2008 Presentations on Identity Management ============================================================== BIOSIG - Biometrics and electronic Signatures -------------------------------------------------------------- The working group Biometrics and Electronic Signatures is dedicated to the fundamentals, methods, techniques, processes and implementations used to guarantee the authenticity and integrity of entities that are involved in information, communication and operating systems employing applications that have a need for security, as well as to the related organizational and legal frameworks. In this context, constructive approaches and threat analyses are considered. In order to develop the topics in this context and to link practical experience with academic innovations the working group BIOSIG is inviting for the workshop: „Biometric Border Control & Federated Identity Management – Scenarios for Applied Biometrics and Electronic Signatures“. ============================================================== Topics of Interest -------------------------------------------------------------- The topics of the workshop include but are not limited to: Biometrics: Research, Development & Applications Biometric standards and interoperability, 3D-face recognition, finger feature recognition, multimodal and multibiometrics (feature fusion, score-fusion, decision fusion), template protection, Comparison-on-Card, fake resistance, ageing of reference data, biometric middle-ware and biometric performance measurement. Federated Identity Management & Identity Cards Authentication protocols, security and interoperability of federated identity management, privacy enhancing technologies, legal and economic aspects of identity federation and theft, concepts for and practical experiences with systems, processes and applications for electronic identity cards (e.g. national identity cards, electronic health and social insurance cards, electronic passports, electronic banking cards etc.) ============================================================== Organizer -------------------------------------------------------------- WG "BIOSIG - Biometrics and electronic Signatures": - Christoph Busch, CAST e.V. christoph.busch@cast-forum.de - Detlef Hühnlein, secunet Security Networks AG, detlef.huehnlein@secunet.com -------------------------------------------------------------- Local Organization -------------------------------------------------------------- Christoph Busch Tel.: +49 (6151) 155-536 E-Mail: biosig2008@biosig.org -------------------------------------------------------------- BIOSIG Webmaster: Victor-Philipp Busch, Universität Hamburg, Tel. +49-40-94769389, webmaster@biosig.de -------------------------------------------------------------- Program Committee -------------------------------------------------------------- - I.
