Falls wir den Fachbereich in seiner Breite da mit in die Excellenzen-Liste hinein- bekommen wollen, könnten wir die Kurzbeschreibungen unserer Fachgruppen von unserem Webserver dahinsenden. Dazu müssten sie wohl in Englisch übersetzt werden. (Schon mal als Vorwarnung :-) Das sollten wir sowieso mal tun, um auch international lesbar zu sein. So wie ich es beim ersten Überlesen aufgenommen habe, reicht es aus, wenn wir bis Montag eine Mail zur Esorics senden (Expression of Interest) und Interesse bekunden, und die Langfassung dann nachschieben. You may have received an invitation to the ESORICS NoE in Security. If not, here it is (and sorry, I should have distributed it as soon as it was published). I encourage you to reply to this invitation directly to Peter Ryan, and to distribute largely to the main security research groups in your country.

The deadline for "Expression of Interest" is next Monday, but it does not need to be very long, and it is not a commitment to participate in the submission, so it does not engage you too much. A small delay can also probably be negociated with Peter.

The ESORICS Steering Committee is putting together a proposal for a Network of Excellence under Framework 6, outline attached. We invite you to let us know if you and your organisation/company/institute would be interested in being involved in this network.

If you are interested we would ask that you send us a brief, i.e. ~half page, description of your organisation, its expertise in the area of security and an indication of the topics of research that you would be interesting in pursuing within the NoE by 11/11/2002.

Some of you will already have responded and provided text in which case please ignore this mailing. If you have already provided some text but want to provide something more detailed please feel free to do so.

The Editorial Team will then collate your responses and prepare a more detailed outline with a breakdown into themes. We will circulate this to all who have responded and invite feedback, including your preferences as to which theme(s) you wish to be associated with.

Please feel free to pass this invitation along to others you think may be interested but have not included in this distribution.
