Liebe Mitglieder*Innen, die Sprecher haben im letzten Fachgruppenmeeting beschlossen, dass wir Discord für eine direktere Kommunikation unter den Mitgliedern und dem Leitungsgremium verwenden werden. Wir haben nun dafür einen Discord-Server aufgesetzt. Einige von euch habe ich direkt in Discord eingeladen (so bereits ein Account vorhanden war), hier aber noch einmal für alle der Einladungslink: https://discord.gg/vYWEnfJ5 (7 Tage gültig) Wir haben einen allgemeinen Kommunikationskanal und einen für das Leitungsgremium eingerichtet. ** FUNDED PHD POSITION AT TU VIENNA ** We are hiring a talented PhD candidate in an international project on the visual analytics of complex diffusion processes over temporal networks. You will work in the context of SANE, a project held by TU Vienna (Austria), the University of Cologne (Germany) and the University of Newcastle (United Kingdom). This project arrangement gives you unique career opportunities, including student exchanges abroad, regular meetings with researchers from the other institutions participating to the project. We are looking for a PhD candidate to work from the TU Wien, at the Institute of Visual Computing and Human-Centered Technology, in the Research Unit of Visual Analytics. We offer a position as project assistant (prae-doc) limited to 3 years for 30 hours/week (that can be extended to 40). Gross annual (monthly) salary of Euro 43,650 (2,464.80) according to FWF regulations. In this position, you will begin your doctoral journey studying problems related to the topic of event-based network visualization. In Event-based (also known as “temporal”) networks, In Event-based (also known as “temporal”) networks, the time coordinates where the nodes and the edges are “active” are an explicit element of the representation, differently from traditional timeslicing where a time structure is imposed over the input data. You will apply these concepts to the problem of Information Diffusion. Information Diffusion studies how “information” flows and spreads through an underlying network, and has been used to model, simulate, and predict natural and human-made phenomena in countless different domains (e.g., pathogen spread, malware outbreak in computer networks, viral marketing, etc.). However, little research has been done on this problem within the context of visualization. Wanna know more? Protokoll Fachgruppentreffen 2023

Liebe Mitglieder*innen der GI Fachgruppe Visualisierung, als kurzen Nachtrag zum Fachgruppentreffen darf ich euch hier das Protokoll schicken: ----------------------------- Das Treffen der Fachgruppe Visualisierung fand auf der VMV 2023 am 28. September 2023 in Braunschweig statt. Das Treffen wurde hybrid organisiert. _Besprochene Themen:_ In einem *Bericht über letztes Jahr* wurden die Ergebnisse der Wahl zum Leitungsgremium und der Sprecher und die nächstens geplanten Meetings besprochen: * Wahl zum Leitungsgremium - Zusammensetzung des Leitungsgremiums, siehe https://fb-gdv.gi.de/fg-vis - Holger Theisel wird als Sprecher des übergeordneten GI-Fachbereichs Grafische Datenverarbeitung zu den Treffen des Leitungsgremiums eingeladen. * Meeting während der Eurovis 2023 im Juni - Wahlergebnis: Sprecherin: Johanna Schmidt, Stellv. Sprecher: Lars Linsen und Daniel Weiskopf * Regelmäßige Meetings der Leitungsgremiums geplant (bei EuroVis und VIS) Anschließend wurden in einer *Feedback- bzw. offenen Diskussionsrunde* folgende Themen als Diskussionsthemen für das Leitungsgremium identifiziert: * Verhältnis zu KI / ML (auf Konferenzen, Workshops, etc) - Speziell wichtiges Thema für Visual Analytics Forschung - Eventuell Einreichung von Panels bei Konferenzen - Hilfreich wäre eine bessere Außendarstellung der Visualisierungsforschung und der Betonung der Alleinstellungsmerkmale von Visualisierung und Visual Analytics - Bekanntheit erhöhen durch Anknüpfung zu anderen Communities innerhalb der GI, aber auch außerhalb * Geplante Einreichungen zur Workshops oder Dagstuhl - Mehr Kommunikation und Austausch von Ideen durchaus erwünscht * Submission-Situation in Workshops auf EuroVis/VIS - Rückgang von Submissions merkbar - Unklar, ob es sich dabei um eine Nachwirkung von Corona handelt, muss man weiter beobachten - Teilen und diskutieren von Ideen im frühen Stadium wird als durchaus positiv und wichtig betrachtet, was den Nutzen von Workshops nach wie vor rechtfertigt Als weitere *Kommunikationswerkzeuge innerhalb der Fachgruppe* wurden vom Sprecherteam Discord und Email beschlossen. Die Mitglieder erhalten demnächst eine Einladung zum bereits bestehenden Discord-Server, in dem es Channels für die Sprecher, das Leitungsgremium, und die Mitglieder gibt. Wichtige Informationen werden nach wie vor auch per Email verteilt werden. ----------------------------- Wir melden uns wieder mit einer Einladung zum Discord-Server.
