Workshop on Wearables & Teleoperation: Adaptive Interfaces for Human-Machine Interaction @ Mensch und Computer 2025
by Pascher, Max 03 Jun '25

03 Jun '25
Teleoperation Redefined: Exploring Wearable Interfaces for Natural Interaction https://www.wearableteleoperation.net/# Held at Mensch & Computer 2025 August 31st, 2025 Chemnitz, Germany Submissions: June 22nd 2025 (Anywhere on Earth) ______________________________________________________________________________ Topic The increasing presence of computers, robots, and otherware in daily life and workplaces is transforming human-computer interaction (HCI), leading to critical questions about collaboration, trust, and control interfaces. Despite their efficiency, these systems are often controlled by interfaces that are complex for the human operator to understand, thus leading to poor, unnatural interaction. Wearable sensor technologies offer a promising alternative by enabling more natural, adaptive, and multimodal interaction paradigms. However, despite their potential, wearable interfaces face significant challenges, including a lack of validation, limited standardization, and the absence of accessible prototyping tools. This workshop gathers experts in interface design, robotics, wearables, and teleoperation to explore strategies for simplifying and accelerating the prototyping process. Through expert presentations, engaging panel discussions, a hands-on prototyping session, the workshop aims to define key design principles, address technical challenges, and promote accessible prototyping strategies, ultimately advancing wearable interaction design in HCI and teleoperation Wearable interfaces are reshaping teleoperation – enabling more adaptive, multimodal, and intuitive interactions between humans and machines. But their real-world use raises key challenges: real-time processing, input integration, system safety, and more. We're inviting researchers and practitioners to join our half-day workshop at Mensch und Computer (MuC) 2025 in Chemnitz to explore these questions together! We welcome perspectives from: * HCI & Wearable Interaction * eTextiles, Sensors & Embodied Interfaces * Machine Learning * Cognitive Science * Ethics & Responsible Tech We’re looking for 2–4 page position papers or case studies that share ongoing work, practical challenges, or future visions. Selected participants will actively contribute to a panel discussion on usability, adaptability, and the future of wearable interaction. * Accepted papers will be published in the GI Digital Library. * Register & Submit via ConfTool: https://www.conftool.pro/muc2025/index.php?page=newPaper&form_contributiont… * Format: MuC Workshop Proceedings + ACM Accessibility Guidelines (https://muc2025.mensch-und-computer.de/en/publication-ready-author-instruct…) Important Dates * Submissions: 22.06.2025 (AoE) * Notification: Early July 2025 * Camera-Ready: 16.07.2025 * Workshop day: 31.08.2025 (Chemnitz, Germany) Organization Committee * Giuseppe Sanseverino, Professorship for Humans and Technology, TU Chemnitz, Germany * Max Pascher, Inclusive Human-Robot Interaction, TU Dortmund University, Germany * Lewis Chuang, Professorship for Humans and Technology, TU Chemnitz, Germany * Jens Gerken, Inclusive Human-Robot Interaction, TU Dortmund University, Germany For more information just reach out to us via max.paschert(a)udo.edu and visit the workshop website at https://www.wearableteleoperation.net/# Wichtiger Hinweis: Die Information in dieser E-Mail ist vertraulich.
