Informatik Festival 2025: Einladung zum Workshop DoCH25: Digitalization of Cultural Heritage und AI Art Gallery: Reviving the Historical Heritage of Iraq

Liebe alle *Kulturelles Erbe *prägt Identität, ist aber vielerorts durch Erosion, Konflikte oder Naturkatastrophen bedroht. Digitale Technologien wie 3D-Scanning, XR/VR und KI können genutzt werden, um Kulturerbe zu bewahren und für ein breites Publikum zugänglich zu machen. Seit drei Jahren arbeiten deutsche Hochschulen mit Universitäten im Irak, Kurdistan-Irak, Jordanien, Libanon, Oman und Sudan zusammen, um Studierenden aus Krisenregionen die Online Teilnahme an projektbezogenen Kursen zu ermöglichen. Gemeinsames Thema der Projekte ist die Digitalisierung kulturellen Erbes, ein Thema was in durch Kriege geprägten Regionen eine besondere (traurige) Bedeutung hat. On the one hand, AI-enabled applications are being marketed as enhancements to human cognition and as positive contributors to productivity and efficiency. On the other hand, researchers have raised concerns against indiscriminate adoption of AI technologies, and have argued that, in order for AI to make a positive contribution to the human condition, it is crucial that AI development be aligned with human values. One of the core challenges is to design AI-based applications to prevent harm, and foster human psychological well-being (PWB), which has two main conceptualizations. The hedonic view considers the presence of positive affect and absence of negative affect (i.e. positive user experience) as a sign of PWB; the eudaimonic view focuses on those motivations, dispositions and activities which lead to flourishing or functioning well, and whose presence can be evaluated by the extent to which one senses meaning, growth, positive relationships, excellence and autonomy in various spheres of one's life. This perspective is endorsed by theories such as Self-Determination Theory (SDT). Furthermore, researchers also argue that eudaimonic well-being also relies on an ethical core -- for to live well, we need to develop those virtues which help us choose well between a range of competing goals and desires, and guide our behavior in everyday situations. As developments in AI increasingly allow us to integrate them in various professional and personal activities, the nature and scope of this integration could potentially transform what we value, along with our attitudes and experiences in, these activities. Consequently, this may also affect the extent to which we can attain the aforementioned constituents of PWB. Either way, whether AI-based technologies are designed, evaluated, and deployed with a view of PWB in mind will have profound cognitive and affective consequences on users. The aim of this book volume is to gather multidisciplinary perspectives on harnessing the potential of AI to enhance PWB. We invite researchers from different disciplines (information systems, computer science, social sciences and philosophy) to contribute to the current state of research on designing and evaluating the algorithmic and interactive aspects of AI with the aim of enhancing PWB. Teleoperation Redefined: Exploring Wearable Interfaces for Natural Interaction https://www.wearableteleoperation.net/# Held at Mensch & Computer 2025 August 31st, 2025 Chemnitz, Germany Submissions: June 22nd 2025 (Anywhere on Earth) ______________________________________________________________________________ Topic The increasing presence of computers, robots, and otherware in daily life and workplaces is transforming human-computer interaction (HCI), leading to critical questions about collaboration, trust, and control interfaces. Despite their efficiency, these systems are often controlled by interfaces that are complex for the human operator to understand, thus leading to poor, unnatural interaction. Wearable sensor technologies offer a promising alternative by enabling more natural, adaptive, and multimodal interaction paradigms. However, despite their potential, wearable interfaces face significant challenges, including a lack of validation, limited standardization, and the absence of accessible prototyping tools. This workshop gathers experts in interface design, robotics, wearables, and teleoperation to explore strategies for simplifying and accelerating the prototyping process. Through expert presentations, engaging panel discussions, a hands-on prototyping session, the workshop aims to define key design principles, address technical challenges, and promote accessible prototyping strategies, ultimately advancing wearable interaction design in HCI and teleoperation Wearable interfaces are reshaping teleoperation – enabling more adaptive, multimodal, and intuitive interactions between humans and machines. But their real-world use raises key challenges: real-time processing, input integration, system safety, and more. We're inviting researchers and practitioners to join our half-day workshop at Mensch und Computer (MuC) 2025 in Chemnitz to explore these questions together! Liebe IuG Interessierte, in guter Tradition gibt es auch in diesem Jahr einen Workshop unseres Fachbereichs Informatik und Gesellschaft auf dem Informatik Festival 2025. Der Workshop findet ganztags am Dienstag 16.9.2025 in Potsdam statt. Anbei den Call for Participation. Gern an Interessierte weiterleiten. Wir freuen uns auf Eure Einreichungen und ebenso darauf, viele von Euch vor Ort zu sehen. Christine Hennig Sprecherin des Fachbereichs Informatik und Gesellschaft IUG 2025: Open Data gut, alles gut? – Gesellschaftliche Fragen der Openness *Offen zugängliche Daten, offen zugängliches Wissen, Open Science, Open Source-Technologien* – auf allen Ebenen scheint das Konzept der Openness einen gesellschaftlichen Mehrwert zu versprechen und als Treiber von Demokratisierung und Dezentralisierung zu wirken. Forschung soll durch Open Data qualitativ hochwertiger werden und das in den Daten verborgene Innovationspotenzial freilegen. In *frei zugänglichen Lehrangeboten* wie OER/MOOC oder durch Open-Source-basierte Infrastrukturen wird Wissen geteilt, völlig unabhängig von Bildungsgrad, Geburtsland und anderen Kriterien. *Offene LLM-Modelle* und transparenzfördernde Konzepte wie *explainableAI* versprechen, die Offenheit proprietärer Strukturen zu fördern. Andererseits bestimmen in*offenen Wissensstrukturen* die Personen, die zum offen zugänglichen Wissen wie bei Wikipedia beitragen, über die inhaltliche Sichtbarkeit. Dadurch haben sie eine *Deutungshoheit* über marginalisierte Gruppen oder gesellschaftliche Perspektiven. Bei allen Vor- und Nachteilen von Openness: Wie offen sollten Forschung, Infrastrukturen und Prozesse wirklich sein? Welche Grenzen und Herausforderungen ergeben sich? In diesem Workshop möchten wir über die *Pluralität von Openness-Konzepten* und deren *Auswirkungen auf Gesellschaft und Technik* diskutieren und widmet sich der *kritischen Reflexion über Konzepte der Openness* in unterschiedlichen Kontexten. Dabei interessieren uns nicht nur technische Implementierungen, sondern auch das Zusammenspiel verschiedener Disziplinen und Perspektiven. *Mögliche Themenbereiche:* * Wie wirkt sich Openness auf Qualität, Sicherheit und Innovationsfähigkeit von Forschung und Technologie aus? * Welche Risiken birgt Openness, beispielsweise hinsichtlich Datenschutz, Deutungshoheit oder Zentralisierung? * Welche Rolle spielt die Informatik in der Gestaltung von Offenheit in anderen Disziplinen? * In welchen konkreten Anwendungsfällen hat sich Openness bewährt oder auch nicht bewährt? Und warum? *Einreichung und Publikation:* Wir ermutigen Einreichungen, die sich unabhängig von der methodischen oder theoretischen Ausrichtung mit diesen Themen befassen. Sowohl empirische Forschungsarbeiten als auch theoretische Abhandlungen, Praxisberichte und Fallstudien werden gerne angenommen. Sprechen Sie uns im Zweifel einfach an. Daher laden wir Wissenschaftler:innenund Praktiker:innenaus der Informatik sowie anderen relevanten Disziplinen herzlich ein, Beiträge einzureichen. Beiträge in deutscher oder englischer Sprache können im PDF-Format als Langbeiträge (8-10 Seiten) oder Kurzbeiträge (4-6 Seiten) inklusive Abbildungen und Literaturverzeichnis, oder Diskussionsbeiträge (max. 1 Seite), eingereicht werden.Sie werden von zwei unabhängigen Gutachter:innen des Programmkomitees bewertet; Beiträge sollten daher vor der Einreichung anonymisiert werden. Bitte beachten Sie bei der Erstellung der Einreichung die Vorgaben der GI-Edition „Lecture Notes in Informatics” und *nutzen Sie die dort hinterlegten Templates* (https://gi.de/service/publikationen/lni <https://gi.de/service/publikationen/lni>). Sollten Sie bei der Erstellung Ihres Beitrags in jeglicher Form (zu Recherchezwecken, zur Erstellung des Abstracts oder von einzelnen Abschnitten) auf den Einsatz von Sprachmodellen/künstliche Intelligenz zurückgreifen, bitten wir um ein deutliches Kenntlichmachen.
